Gen 2

Celica – Generation 2

The second generation Celica replaced the Gen1 in early 1978, but had a realtively short production life, being replaced by the Gen3 after just four years. Even in that relatively short time, there were two releases (series) of the Gen2 called Series A and Series B.

A huge number of different models of the Gen 2 were produced in its short lifetime, as if Toyota were experimenting with different options to see which would be most popular with the car buying public; these even included a one-off pickup version as well as numerous other styles. One of these spawned the development of the Celica Camry, another name which would become a seperate Toyota model in its own right in later years.

Wanted : More information about the Generation 2 Celica (both series A and series B). If you own one of these rare Toyotas, we’d like your input to extend the content of this site. Please consider supplying us with pictures and editorial so that we can improve the information available on this site.
