6th Generation Celicas
1994 - 1999

The 6th Generation Toyota Celica was regarded by
many enthusiasts as the best to date, and some will prefer its smooth
lines compared to the new, more angular generation 7 car.
USA Gen 6 Celicas
G6 cars
were available in the USA from 1994 with a choice of two engines.
The lower spec car - the ST - used the 1.8 litre double overhead cam 1.8
litre 7A-FE engine and was discontinued in the USA in 1997. The
more powerful GT used the 5S-FE engine as fitted to the 2.2 litre MR2 of
the time. Confusingly, the car is generically known as the ST204
and you'll find that if you have a GT then the chassis number will
include the code ST204. However, the chassis number on ST models
will include the code AT200.

Other Specifications
Outside of the USA, Gen 6 Celicas were normally fitted
with the 2.0 litre 3S Engine range (as were MR2s of the time).
This range includes the 3S-FE engine, the more powerful 3S-GE and
the very potent turbocharged version of the latter - the 3S-GTE.

Celica GT-4
The GT4 Celica featured four wheel drive and the
3S-GTE engine which produced over 250 bhp. These cars are still
highly sought after today as they were relatively rare, and offer very
good handling combined with lots of power. GT4s are somewhat
heavier than the FWD cars at a little over 1400Kg, but the extra power
gives them a 0-60 time of just over 6 seconds. Insurance groups
for GT4 cars is 17.
